Gabrielle Burgess, originally from Dracut, MA, holds a BA in Dance from Hofstra University. During her studies, she was a recipient of the Martin and Toni Sosnoff Award for Most Outstanding Freshman and Senior, the Dance Endowed Award, and the Hofstra Department of Drama and Dance Merit Award. There she also served as president of Hofstra’s chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. At Hofstra, Gabrielle was fortunate enough to perform works by Doug Varone, Adam Barruch, Igal Perry, Robin Becker, Karla Wolfangle, Rachel List, and Ellie Kusner. Her choreography has been performed in multiple student repertory showcases, and most recently she has choreographed, produced, and presented her own half-hour evening of work entitled “Wax//Wane”. Her collaborative duet with Bethany Chang, “synapse”, was also chosen to be performed at the 2017 American College Dance Association Northeast Conference. Gabrielle has studied outside of Hofstra with Doug Varone and Dancers, Keigwin + Company, the Pantos Project, and at the Bates Dance Festival. Her performance experience in New York includes works by kamrDANCE, the Praevado Dance Collective, and Mary-Kate O’Toole choreography. She is on the substitute faculty at Lisa Pilato Dance Center in Dracut, MA, and has recently relocated to New York City.
